This space was meticulously crafted and influenced by our amazing high school students. We extend our heartfelt gratitude and Jazak Allahu Khairan to Ayah Amin, who, after school, accompanied her mother to Bunnings to select the Dulux Harbour Blue shade that now adorns our walls.
Now, the big question: what shall we name this room? The options considered were The Deen Room, Blue Pearl, or The Sunnah Room. Following extensive deliberation among the students, we are pleased to announce that the chosen name for the room is “The Sunnah Room.”
This decision stands as a remarkable accomplishment by our exceptional students.
Creating a Tranquil Oasis
Our Journey to Completing Our Islamic Room
The warmth of tradition, the beauty of intricate designs, and the serenity of Islamic art – all come together in our newly completed Islamic room. We are thrilled to share our journey of crafting a tranquil oasis that celebrates our cultural heritage and provides a haven of peace and reflection in our home.
Inspiration from Islamic Art and Architecture
Our journey began with a deep appreciation for the rich artistic traditions of the Islamic world. From the awe-inspiring architecture of the Alhambra in Spain to the exquisite calligraphy of the Quran, we found endless inspiration.
One of the defining features of Islamic design is its use of geometric patterns. These patterns, with their symmetrical beauty, became the cornerstone of our room’s aesthetic. We incorporated them into everything from the tilework to the textiles, creating a harmonious visual language.
Cozy Comfort with Traditional Seating
To create an inviting space, we incorporated traditional Middle Eastern seating arrangements. Low-slung sofas, plush cushions, and intricately designed wooden tables provide a cozy and comfortable atmosphere for relaxation and conversation.
Finding Inner Peace
Our Islamic room has become more than just a space within our home. It’s a place for reflection, prayer, and moments of inner peace. The room’s design and ambiance inspire a sense of tranquility and spiritual connection.
Completing our Islamic room has been a labor of love, a way to pay homage to our cultural heritage, and a reminder of the beauty of Islamic art and architecture. It’s a space that fosters gratitude and reflection, allowing us to connect with our faith and traditions in a profound way.
In the end, our Islamic room is not just a physical space; it’s a reflection of our values, our history, and our commitment to creating a home that celebrates the beauty of our culture and faith. We invite you to take inspiration from our journey and consider how you can infuse your own living spaces with the beauty and meaning of Islamic design.
A Serene Colour Palette
In our quest to create a tranquil oasis, we carefully selected a colour palette that would evoke a sense of serenity and sophistication. The walls of our Islamic room are adorned in a soothing shade of blue, reminiscent of the vast and calming expanse of the sky. This choice not only provides a serene backdrop but also symbolizes the infinite beauty and wisdom found in the teachings of Islam.
The intricate geometric patterns on our cushions shimmer with white accents, echoing the richness of Islamic art and architecture. The pairing of blue and white in our Islamic room strikes a harmonious balance. The coolness of blue complements the warmth of white, creating an ambiance that is both inviting and regal. Whether we’re seated on the plush cushions, or basking in the gentle glow of sun light, the interplay of these colours envelops us in an atmosphere of peace and grace.
A Tribute to Islamic Traditions
While we incorporated these contemporary colour choices, we did so with the utmost respect for Islamic traditions. Blue and white are not only visually appealing but also deeply symbolic. They remind us of the spiritual depth and historical significance woven into every thread of our Islamic heritage.
In our Islamic room, the synergy of blue and white is more than just a design choice; it’s a reflection of our reverence for the past, our connection to the present, and our hope for the future. As we sit amidst the cushions, between the calligraphy, and bathe in the gentle radiance of the morning and afternoon sun, we find solace in the union of these colours – peaceful and timeless, just like the faith that inspired our room’s creation.
